About the role

This role is critical to the sustainable growth and future success of our business. We are looking for an incredible Sales Director to lead the sales and marketing team, to grow subscription revenues and to service our channel partners.

The Sales Director leads the Go-To-Market strategy, resources and activities [sales and marketing] into the Water Treatment Industry, liaising with the CEO to build a high performing team that delivers the company growth ambitions.

To achieve this, you will be required to lead:

  • The business development team; helping them to acquire new channel partners for our solutions.
  • The Partner Account Management team; to build strong relationships with our existing partners that will grow mutual value, minimise churn and grow revenue.
  • The marketing team; to influence the opinions of the industry toward remote services and building a partner community.

With sales activity via channel partners, you will not have direct control of sales opportunities (end customer projects); but you will be required to take control of the regular activities needed to manage a pipeline, forecast and deliver predictable results. This disciplined sales management approach includes regularly and accurately report progress to the CEO, leadership team and the company.

You own the growth targets for the company and develop a channel growth strategy for the team to deliver these ambitions. You will use a commission plan to reward success and manage the work of the team to ensure optimum productivity, personal development, and impact on KPIs.

You are able to develop an energising sales culture, where the team are focused on the success of strategic channel partners/end customers and enjoy their work. You will manage and coach the sales team to improve performance and results in line with the strategy. This includes the setting of clear goals, objectives and targets for the team and holding each individual accountable for progress.

You will ensure that each team member is focused on their core responsibilities and is able to perform these to the required standard, coaching and developing these capabilities as required.

You will be able to confidently speak, present and write about the value our IoT services can deliver to the industry. This will require you to be active on social platforms (webinars, LinkedIn and others) and at live industry events and meetings, in order to communicate the value of a new approach to service delivery and influence opinions.

You will help the team to engage partners effectively. Deploying a sales process that is grounded in the principles of value selling.

You will work with the operations and technical teams to ensure that the channel partners, and their customers, are at the heart of the company. This includes regularly measuring, and lead initiatives to improve, the partner experience in working with us.

What are we looking for?

  • A capable sales coach; to help to develop and guide the performance of the team.
  • Good motivation skills, able to build a motivating sales culture for the team and get the best from every individual in the team.
  • Working in, and leading teams, in companies with high growth ambitions; to achieve sales and margin targets.
  • Liaising with industry bodies and influencing policy.
  • Essential: At least 5 years experience working in a channel sales environment and 2 years experience managing sales resources
  • Marketing experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Aware of how software/technology/IoT solutions can be used by channel partners to transform their operational service models.
  • An awareness of the business model for water treatment companies is desirable, but not essential.
  • A degree, or further education, is desirable but not essential
  • Computer literate, Good numeracy & written skills
  • A disciplined Sales Director; with a track record of managing pipeline, deals and development plans in a channel sales model.
  • Able to build and refine the value proposition; adapting to the needs of channel partners and helping them to succeed.
  • Experienced in building executive-level relationships with strategic channel partners; and using these relationships to grow revenue. Implementing consistent partner governance structures.
  • Capable deal coach; helping team members to qualify, plan and implement strategies to win key pipeline opportunities
  • Aware of effective channel partner marketing activities; to acquire new channel partners and expand success from current partners.
  • Commercially capable, in the development of good profitable commercial agreement
  • Attention to detail; using this to build the right details in agreements. Also taking a data-driven approach to sales management and team accountability.
  • Confident in presenting ideas and concepts to individuals and groups; using opportunities to present to channel partners and industry events to educate and influence them on the value of remote monitoring solutions
  • Passionate about the potential impact that technology (IoT) can have on operational performance.
  • Growth mindset – a professional seller who is committed to CPD in sales and open to coaching and learning as part of the team.
