Our Client:

Pat O’Donnell & Co. is a family owned business and is Ireland’s largest supplier of plant machinery and equipment.  Their Headquarters are in Dublin with three further branches in Cork, Galway and Portadown.

The business is long-established, robust, is growing and has invested heavily to ensure that it is well positioned to provide a high level of service to clients and to continue to drive growth.

Key Accountabilities:

The key accountabilities of the role can broadly be defined as follows:

  • Assume custodianship for existing accounts, taking ownership for further developing a relationship that will deliver the optimum returns for both Pat O’Donnell & Co. and the customer.
  • Identify and resolve any client issues and concerns.
  • Be the main point of collaboration for adding value to the client relationship, strengthening and broadening relationships at all levels within the accounts and building barriers to exit.
  • Grow client base across the territory by identifying new opportunities and potential clients through field based activity and following up on leads and referrals.
  • Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from initial enquiry to final acceptance.  Work with internal resources to follow-up for payment and after sales support.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of products and services.
  • Clearly communicate progress against targets and goals, adopting a ‘no-surprises’ approach.
  • Collate market intelligence based on customer feedback, update sales database and keep Directors informed to enable key business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
  • Participate and attend in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
  • Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock.
  • Complete trade-in reports, assess trade-in values and sell used equipment in conjunction with Used Equipment Manager.

Candidate Profile:

  • An experienced sales professional with a minimum of three to five years sales experience in business to business capital sales, specific  construction equipment and plant equipment sales experience preferable.
  • A passionate and highly driven individual with the determination and strength of character required to drive growth across their territory, maintaining focus on objectives whilst overcoming short-term challenges.
  • An excellent communicator with the personal presence to command respect and an ability to relate to individuals at all levels within a client organisation.
  • Commercially astute with experience in sales negotiations within given guidelines.
  • Be highly organised, target-oriented with a drive for results and a proven ability to meet targets.
  • Ability to work within a team structure.
  • Be IT literate and have experience in Excel and PowerPoint and competent with field based IT software and CRM database maintenance.
  • Leaving Cert Standard Education or Equivalent.
  • Third Level Business Qualifications (but not essential).
  • Full clean Drivers Licence essential.

The appointee must also be willing to travel within assigned territory to maximise business potential and travel internationally when required to manufacturers’ locations, trade shows, etc.

Remuneration Package:

Reflecting the key nature of this key appointment our client is prepared to offer a competitive incentive based package to attract an ambitious sales professional, comprising of a competitive negotiable base salary and commission plan.  In addition there will be a company car, pension contribution matched up to 5% and group income protection scheme.  A mobile phone, tablet / laptop will also be provided.
